The new alder cabinets were topped with granite, and a tile backsplash.  You can see the new pass-thru to the dining room.
We have gutted the kitchen, and are adding a pass-thru to the dining area at one end.  The plumbers and electrician are hard at work in this photo.
This is a view of the original kitchen - it was outdated, and somewhat claustrophobic.
The upper cabinets on the right side of this photo were eliminated for the new pass-thru.
Here is a view of the original kitchen looking the other way.  We eliminated the small peninsula cabinet, and the bifold doors in the back were replaced with a regular swinging door and a frosted glass panel next to it.
The new tile floor was set on a diamond pattern, and the new door to the adjacent room was stained to match the cabinets.

This kitchen remodel took place in early 2008.  The clients had approached a local franchise kitchen remodeler to make their dream kitchen come true.  But the initial contractor had been unable to meet their budget constraints.

When they called us, we were able to give them more kitchen for less money.  Granite instead of Corian, tile floor instead of vinyl, under budget instead of over.

The job progressed quickly, and took 5 weeks total.  During which time the clients cooked with a microwave and a hot plate in their game room, cleaned dishes in the laundry room, and ate out a little more often!

The wall at the end of the room was opened up, creating a pass-thru to the dining room.  The ugly old bi-fold door into the study was replaced with a swinging door and a window panel with fogged glass.  The kitchen’s back door was replaced with a new frame-and-panel door, fitted into the existing jamb.

A new freestanding range and wall hood replaced the old built-in model.  The clients were a pleasure to work for, and the kitchen, once ugly and clautrophobic feeling, looks beautiful now!
