We've received a number of requests from readers over the past few years to make our Web videos available for download so they can be viewed when not connected to the Internet or on slow internet connections, or be transported to another device like an iPod or DVD player.

I'm happy to report we're listening, and have recently launched a new video download store powered by iAmplify.com, where you can purchase instructional woodworking and home building videos on topics from finish carpentry to finishing to home repair.

For this launch, we've made available our complete library of long-form DVDs, which you can browse using the player embeded above or by visiting our store homepage. We'll be publishing additional videos for sale in time as we test out the tool and see how customers respond.

Here's how it works: After you choose a video to puchase, you'll need to create an account on iAmplify.com since you will actually be purchasing your download from iAmplify, not from FineHomebuilding.com or the Taunton Press. Then it takes just a few mouse clicks to get through the check-out process. Purchasing a download gives you instant access to the digital video file in its original quality and format, and it stores that file right on your desktop as well as your iAmplify video library, where it can be referenced on any computer over the Web.

We're excited about this new tool as we continue to improve the video experience on FineHomebuilding.com. If you do purchase one of these downloads, we'd love to hear your feedback. How do you like iAmplify's site? How easy is it to use? What are the benefits of owning a digital video rather than watching a streaming video from our site?
