Metal Corner Bead Substitutes for Drywall Clips
If you’re framing a partition wall that butts into an exterior wall and you don’t want to compromise the integrity of the insulation or waste unnecessary wood, you could track down those hard to find drywall clips, but there’s a better way.
Russell Martin of St. Paul, Minn. sent us his solution that is cheaper, easy to install, and offers a solid connection. He uses a piece of conventional corner bead and attaches it to the stud. Now, he has a sturdy backing to attach the sheet of drywall to. The adjoining sheets of drywall get fastened through the other leg of the corner bead into the stud.
