As summer draws to a close I find myself wanting to absorb and hold on to as much of it as I can before autumn arrives. This colorful porch in the town of Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard is a good reminder of summer pleasures. Nestled in tightly among dozens of other Carpenter Gothic or Victorian cottages in what is known as the Old Methodist Campground this porch invites one to sit and relax, taking in the summer sights and sounds. Oak Bluffs is well known for its colorful cottage community and folks have been flocking there since the 1800’s to experience the delights of Martha’s Vineyard in the summer. This porch is carefully color coordinated with the flowers to make a lovely and simple design statement, while French fleur de lis patterns built in as balusters add interesting detail. Just right….
