Cheek Wall Finish — Without Staging
Leaving the sheathing and shingles off one section of roof provides access to apply finishes and paint an awkward spot.

The cheek wall on the cross-gable has a narrow section of main roof alongside. The cheek is in an awkward spot due to the exterior grading making it hard to set up a ladder. So while the rest of the roof shingles were installed around the main house and garage we didn’t install the roofing alongside the cheek wall. We also left a panel of the roof sheathing off so we could stand on the floor inside the house to finish up the cheek wall.
While standing safely on the floor we installed the Roxul insulation and furring on the cheek, the fascia and soffit trim, the step flashing and the siding. Before closing up the roof sheathing we painted the trim and siding.
