A Stylish Entrant

Tacta, a new door handle from Italian manufacturer Colombo Design, is a sleek marriage of metal and wood. The conical shape of the brass neck is complemented by the teardrop shape of an ergonomically designed solidwood handle. The work of designer Carlo Bartoli, Tacta can be surfacemounted or set on a plate. It comes in a satin nickel finish that can be paired with handles of either Makassar ebony, pearwood, or pau violeto (rosewood). A typical passage set lists for $384; a privacy set costs $429.
