Audio: Forming and Pouring a Concrete Sill

Need something that will outperform oak or metal? Try concrete instead.

Inspired by the concrete countertops in her kitchen, a homeowner hired Michigan-based builder Jeff Louwsma to craft a concrete sill for her cherry entry door. In this audio slide show, Louwsma explains the process step by step.

To learn how cabinetmaker and carpenter Rex Alexander constructed the door used in this installation, read Building a Cherry Entry Door from Fine Homebuilding issue #196 (June/July 2008), pp.78-79.
