Build a Simple Door Buck

Low on materials and high on utility, this door buck can be made with ease

A 30-in. 2x4, a circular saw, and a hammer are all you need to make this simple door buck submitted by Fine Homebuilding reader Tim Hoisington of Greenfield, Massachusetts. In this video tip, editor Justin Fink demonstrates where and how to make kerfs to create a notch. Once the notch is cleared, the door rests snugly on the buck with the help of a tapered wedge tapped in place.
