AirTap Water Heater Heating Element

This add-on to your water heater uses hot air to heat the water in your tank

Length: 1:08

If you're interested in another way to save on the energy it takes to heat water, use what you've already got: hot air. The AirTap from Beyond Pollution Inc. can be added to an existing water heater and is more efficient than a typical water heater; in fact, it's three times more efficient than a gas water heater. As Fine Homebuilding editor Chris Ermides explains in this video, the pump works by pulling in hot air already in your house. The hot air moves through the AirTap's coils and heats the water in the tank.
