Spectacular Sashes: Constructing Custom Windows

Hand-built reproduction mahogany windows are the order for this Manhattan row house

With money not an object and historical accuracy paramount, Middletown, R.I.-based New England Woodworking built 22 custom windows for a Manhattan brownstone using pattern-grade mahogany. In this video, you'll learn from project manager Dave Chastanet exactly how the units were made, including details about sash construction, weathersealing, and calculating the heft of each window's lead counterweights.
