What's Green in Brooklyn?

Tour the IceStone plant where recycled glass and concrete combine into countertops and floors

Length: 2:08
Produced By: Tom Olivares

If you’re planning a new kitchen or bathroom and are looking for a sustainable alternative to quarried-stone counters or floors, you’ll appreciate the work they do at the IceStone manufacturing plant in Brooklyn. IceStone uses 80% to 100% post-consumer glass from beer and wine bottles, among other sources, mixed with concrete to make cast, handcrafted slabs with infinite color palettes and patterns.

To learn more about the lastest countertop materials available, including bamboo, scrap metal, and even paper, read Amazing Countertops from Fine Homebuilding issue #194 (April/May 2008), pp.42-47.
