Tour West Coast Green's Eco-Prefab

Compact and beautiful, mkLotus is a zero-energy house with major appeal

Length: 4:53
Produced By: Tom Olivares and Michael Dobsevage

Follow Tim Schmidt, builder and CEO of XtremeHomes on a tour of West Coast Green's factory-built showhouse, mkLotus. Architect Michelle Kaufmann designed the home to be one of the greenest houses ever built in North America. As such, the materials and systems that make up the house are an eclectic mix of innovation: structural insulated panels, fly-ash concrete exterior panels, FSC-certified wood, a gray-water recycling system, photovoltaic panels, a green roof, LED lighting, and Energy Star appliances. Sorry, no garage, but there is a plug to charge an electric car.
