Using a Worm-Drive Saw

Know where to put your hands and use this heavy saw's weight to your advantage

Watch editor Charles Miller demonstrate how he uses his worm-drive saw to make precise plunge and bevel cuts and how he uses the weight of the saw to his advantage. Chuck also shows you how to easily adjust the bevel angle and blade depth. Even if you've been using a worm-drive saw for years, Chuck slips enough practical advice into his demonstration to make it well worth the five minutes you'll spend watching it. You'll also want to watch for an especially clever tip he learned from Larry Haun that keeps the saw at hand and the strain of lifting this heavy tool off your back.

To learn more about using a worm-drive saw read the "Building Skills" piece Cutting with a Worm-Drive Saw  from Fine Homebuilding issue #198 (Oct/Nov 2008), pp.94-96.
