This set of cabinets hosts a microwave at kid level and has lots of storage. The face frames, doors, drawer fronts, knobs and trim are solid cherry.  The drawer boxes are dovetailed hardrock maple with under mount Blumotion glides. The cabinet carcasses are birch plywood.  The only problem in building it was that the stainless surround had a gentle curve on top that was not on the scale drawing I used for layout.  The solution was to cut the adjacent doors to match.

The stainless steel surround also makes replacing the microwave easier.  If a new microwave does not fit in the existing surround opening then a new surround can be fabricated that matches the current cabinet opening and accommodates the new microwave dimensions.
