This is a DIY project that I built in my family room as an entertainment center/storage unit.  The cabinets are built out of birch and maple plywood, poplar face and door frames, mdf raised panels and paint grade pine moulding.  The unit used to hold a 50" rear projection TV (fully enclosed) but was retrofitted this year to hold the LCD panel.  Both the LCD panel and the electronics slide out on heavy duty ball bearing slides for easy access.  The electronics rack is made of plywood with Middle Atlantic rack rails and equipment shelves.  The system speakers are housed in insulated pockets behind door frames with speaker cloth inserts.  To either side of the TV is media storage with 6 slide out drawers each.   To the left side of the entertainment unit is a window seat with storage below and a bookshelf/cabinet.  On the right side of the entertainment unit is a window seat with storage below, a bookshelf and a bench that lifts up for storage underneath.  It was a fun project and has served us well.

UdyRegan UdyRegan writes: That's a really nice storage unit for the television and the living room but I've got a bit of an issue about how the storage shelves are all fixed! What happens when you want to upgrade your television and you're stick with a fixed size? Can the cupboard even be taken apart for the shelves to be rearranged?
