Not wanting to use the usual lattice to hide the under deck storage, I came up with this. The stair risers set the spacing and make an unbroken run around the perimeter.
The boards on this end were built as one unit and mounted to outside corner post with stainless steel hinges for easy access to under deck storage.
Detail view of railing section bump-out with built in bench on opposite side.
Railing sections can easily be removed and rods replaced as needed. Which conceed will have to be done more often because of the material used. It was the best off the shelf option i could find with the look I wanted.
Adding the lower tier with the grill bumpout was a must for the small deck. I especially like how the grill almost has a built in look. The pergola is 2x8 cedar with pine hand rails running through them. Again the best off the shelf option with the look i wanted.

Our old PT deck was looking a bit tired and splintery, but structurally solid. The PT deck boards and lattice railing removeal went quickly, and replaced with western red cedar. The stain is Cabots` pacific redwood.  The railing is 2x cedar top and bottom with pine closet rods filing in the field coated with  thompsons water seal for weather protection. The lower tier with the tile insert counter top and grill bumpout is all new, from footings up. I used Tiger claw hidden fasteners for the decking and stainless steel screws on everything else.
