I used basalt for the dry stone (no mortar) retaining wall and steps. The kitchen area is situated on top of a single car garage. The counter tops and mantle are concrete with a sand finish. An alcove in the wall creates a space for the stainless steel gas grill and a another alcove is designed to be used as a fireplace. A shallow sink and a stainless steel faucet was installed between the grill and fireplace to provide a spot for hand washing. There are two sets of steps that allow easy access to the terrace above the wall and the grass is just getting established.
