With all sorts of lasers, rangefinders, inclinometers, digital protractors, and more being offered, we’ve seen a lot of innovation in measuring devices in recent years, but the good old tape measure hasn’t changed all that much. QuickDraw looks to have ended the lull with its self-marking tape measure.
With built-in graphite, this tape measure eliminates the need to grab a pencil to mark off measurements. The tape measure is said to deliver approximately 1000 marks per load and is refillable. The graphite is a 0.9 mm 4B shaft that rubs against a textured steel wheel that picks up the graphite and transfers marks to the surface when the tape measure is moved side to side.
QuickDraw states the 25 ft. nylon-coated tape will “stand out” eight feet before it bends.
Another innovative feature on this tape measure is the Tru-View indicator that provides a more precise view of the measurement.
Approximate cost is $20. While probably not the tool of choice for fine trim work, it looks to be an ideal time saver for tasks such as framing.
