Justin Fink has been working hard to complete the carriage door install on our shop.
Jim Lacey, a professional painter and a contributor to the magazine, gave us a hand by painting the new front facade.
Here, Patrick McCombe mixes up a bucket of pre-mixed joint compound before taping the drywall hung by FHB contributor, Myron Ferguson.
(yes, youre supposed to mix the pre-mixed stuff).

Staff and contributors have been hard at work getting the garage shop at the Project House buttoned up before Winter really sets in here in New England. Topping the list of things to get done were a set of insulated carriage doors that editor Justin Fink has been working on. The doors are hung and weather-stripped, which means we can finally begin heating the space.

If you’re at all interested in the construction of these doors, be sure to check out the April/May Issue of Fine Homebuilding. We’ve put together a full-blown article on their construction.

The new facade of the garage, which was designed by former executive editor Chuck Miller, is looking better than ever. Jim Lacey, a professional painter and a contributor to the magazine, helped us do the work. Check out Jim’s Building Skills videos for tips on prepping and painting cedar shingles, fiber cement clapboards and pvc trim.
