1790 barn to home conversion
comments (0) October 9th, 2012 in Project Gallerythis is a barn we are restoring and converting to living space, we had to do lots of structural repairs. it is going to be beautiful when finished we reused the existing granite to reface the foundation we used antique lumber to make all repairs , with the idea being you shouldnt know repairs were made . we had to replace some timbers and had to do many scarf joint type repairs to extend rotten timbers. we are reusing as much of the original wood and hardware as possible. the house is being insulated with spray foam applied outside of the original barn board. we are going to sheathe in 1x12 shiplap so it looks like it did before we made repairs.
