Dust Collection system separator retrofit
comments (1) November 6th, 2012 in Project GalleryVancouver hardwood floor refinishing contractor, Raincoast Floors, shows how to retrofit a standard shop vacuum with a separator that allows for a garbage bag on this youtube clip. This dust collector has served us very well for more than 2 years now. At first we would change the garbage bag directly on the dust collector. This was very frusterating to do and was very messy. We found a separator that attached to a standard garbage can. This reduced the amount of times that we had to empty the sanding dust, but... you can't put a garbage bag into the garbage can because the vacuum would suck it up and plug the the air flow. Because of this we had to emply the garbage can into a garbage bag which made a big mess. The solution we finally figured out was to drill a hole in the bottom of the garbage can and attach on airtight fitting that we could connect to the 2nd vacuum port. With this retrofit we are now able to easily and cleanly remove the sanding dust from the dust collection system
