Porter-Cable's popular 3 1/4 horsepower router is being recalled because uninsulated handles can shock users.

Porter-Cable is recalling more than 100,000 3 1/4 hp, fixed-based routers because the metal handles can conceivably shock users. The recall affects routers made between 1990 and April 2014. The following models are affected:

Model Number Speed/Feature
7518 5-speed
7519 1-speed
7519EC 1-speed with extended chuck
22-7519-60 1-speed (220-volt)

Porter-Cable is telling users not to use the tool and to contact them for a replacement base with insulated handles. You can reach Porter-Cable toll-free at (888) 344-7973 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Eastern time) Monday through Friday. You can also email them at support.portercable@sbdinc.com. You can find more information at www.portercable.com. Click on Important Safety Notice/Recalls, and then select 2014 from the list of years.
