In Marin County, California, Lowes was fined $1.6 million for advertising 2x4s when the lumber actually measured 1 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in.

Please get your facts straight before maligning Marin County. There's no Lowes in this county, which happens to have a large population of environmentally aware and concerned citizens, traits that I assume are shared by many of your readers. But yes, possibly a few too many attorneys.
There may or may not be a Lowes in Marin County. I don't know. But I do know that the article I linked to references a case brought by the Marin County DA's office.
