I arrived before sunrise to start my shoot and the water was calm and quiet. The autumn light was beautiful and warm and I was able to shoot for about an hour while the sun came up. This image was one of the last shots I took before heading inside to start styling and photographing the interior. I was concerned about the dappled light on the house. I didn’t want it to distract from the architecture. I could see there was a reflection in the water, but I still wasn’t convinced the shot was a good one. I always shoot whatever I see even if I am not sure if it’s a strong photograph. This image is one of the best shots that I got that morning!
I was inspired by the designer’s passion regarding their desire to renovate a family home that had been a special place for generations.
