Originally the house had a small galley kitchen which also served as the main pathway between areas of the house. It was dark, cramped with very little counter space. The upright freezer was in the hall. My objective was to get an open, clean, bright space with plenty of countertops and storage that allowed you to see and use all the space without ending up having a ‘dark zone’ that you only entered on annual cleaning ventures. Ah yes….also without breaking the bank.
