This remarkable writing desk built by Kochman Reidt + Haigh Cabinetmakers of Stoughton, MA was in the bedroom of a house I photographed a few years back. According to Paul Reidt, the design was based on a Josef Danhauser piece from the 1820’s. The influence of the Biedermeier aesthetic is visible in the clean functionality and beautiful craftsmanship of the piece. The desk was made of birdseye maple and ebonized cherry.
