My nearly completed redwood shed.

The shed was built on a skid foundation of two redwood 6'' by 6''s with 7'' by 3''s 14'' o/c for the floor joists and 3\4'' T+G OSB for the floor. The floor is insulated with sheets of ridgid 2'' insulation cut to fit between the joists, the walls and ceiling were insulated with 4'' ridgid insulation. The walls were 4'' by 2''s 16'' o/c with double top plates, i used house wrap and 7/8'' redwood shiplap siding on the outside. The rafters were 5'' by 2''s and the ridge was a 6'' by 2'', the roof sheathing is cement composite faux tile sheets which were secured with galvinised lag bolts and neoprene washers. A coloured cap covers the lag head, unfortunetly i was given the wrong colour washers and bolt covers! I used brown upvc fascia, soffit, gutters and downpipes to match the windows. The doors are redwood to match the siding and were handmade. The inside was sheathed with 3/8'' OSB.  I will be building a box step for the back door and a ramp for the double doors. More pics to follow.

ballinagree ballinagree writes: Apologies Jeff, i've been out of the loop for a while. I have a tiny bit of bounce. Nothing to worry about, an extra skid is probably a good idea with 2 by 6 joists, unless you go with heavier joists like 2 by 10's.
Thanks,

Ivor.

greencarpentry greencarpentry writes: Nice job! I'm about to build a similarly sized shed/shop(12X18)on skids and wonder if you're getting any bounce to the floor with just two skids. Perhaps not given you're using 7x3s on 14" centers. My plan was for three treated 6X6s evenly spaced with 2x6 floor joists.
Thanks,
Jeff
