A familiar Greek Revival House

First off, let me say I'm a sucker for Greek Revivals. So it's not surprising that when I saw architect Gil Schafer's Hudson River home today in the NY Times, it rang a bell.

It might also not be surprising that as an employee of the Taunton Press I have access to thousands of home building books. I get a pretty good discount on our stuff too, but I have only taken the time to purchase a few items. One is Creating a New Old House by Russell Versaci.

Ok, big finish here. I first saw Mr. Schafer's home in Mr. Versaci's ground-breaking book which we published in 2005 (a paperback edition came out in 2007). I'm going to go out on a limb and state that this might be my favorite book published by Taunton.

Aside from the Greek Revival, there's more than a dozen other styles featured, including a Southern Antebellum Plantation, a Spanish-Puelbo Adobe, and my personal favorite, a French Colonial Plantation designed by architect Ken Tate.
