If your are an expert in your field and want to make the change from FineHomebuilding.com reader to FineHomebuilding.com contributor, we should talk.

We're seeking a group of dedicated professionals that know their stuff and how to relate that information to other professionals. Don't worry about editing; we'll take care of that. What counts more is a passion for your interest area (framing, finish carpentry, tools, design, etc.) and the ability to find fresh, cool stuff that other home builders will find interesting.

Here's a list of specific trades we'd like to find bloggers for, but if you have another specialty, feel free to make a suggestion.

How-to
:

Framing
Finish Carpentry
Electrical
Plumbing
HVAC
Masonry
Tilework
Flooring
Painting
Roofing

Tools -- Are you a tool junkie?

Residential Design -- Are you an architect on the pulse of the latest trends?

Green Building -- We're looking for professionals from different geographic regions and building disciplines to contribute to our green building blog. For example, if two design/build professionals make the cut, they won't be on the same coast.

Oh, if you think green is bunk and have the chops to back it up, there's one spot on this team for you too.

If interested, please contact me at: jpvellotti [at] taunton.com

Thanks,

Jean Paul Vellotti

Gadjet Gadjet writes: This is not a full thought, but sort of a basic idea that needs more ... how about a spot for the "wannabe" a handyman to ask a "professional" handyman a question. I've been the "jack of all trades" now for (my gawd, I can't believe it!) over thirty years. I get many questions to answer the simple stuff, which unfortunatley the average "kid" at the local "building supply / hardware" can't answer. I figure anyone can post a question, and anyone can post a answer. But refine and specify each blog to a apecific area, as in one for plumbing, one for framing, one for concrete etc. I would expect in a very short time you'd have a pretty good "do it yourself" resource.

My fields of expertise are plumbing and mechanical. I have been the chief plmg/mech inspector for the City of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Building Department for the past 16 years. Before that, I had 27 years in the plumbing trade, mostly residential new construction and remodeling.

I served two terms on the Technical Committe for the development of the International Fuel Gas Code for the 2006 edition.

I would be in interested in responding to code questions and technical questions relating to plumbing and HVAC.

Best, Jean Paul
