One of the most thoroughgoing and authoritative compilations of green practices for residential construction, The National Green Building Standard, is now available for sale at BuilderBooks.com, the National Association of Home Builders’ publishing arm.

Co-developed by NAHB and the International Code Council, The National Green Building Standard is a crucial document for builders looking to implement green practices in any aspect of their projects, from lot design, preparation, and development to resource, energy, and water efficiency to indoor environmental quality to operation, maintenance, and building owner education.

Just as significant, the standard has been approved by the American National Standards Institute, whose mission is to promote and facilitate voluntary consensus standards and ensure their integrity. The National Green Building Standard is the first green building rating system to receive ANSI approval.

The standard includes four threshold levels – Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Emerald – that provide builders with a means to achieve basic, entry-level green building, or achieve the highest level of sustainable green building that incorporates energy savings of 60 percent or higher, NAHB says.

The National Green Building Standard (ISBN 978-0-86718-641-3) is priced at $31.95 for NAHB members, $35.95 for nonmembers, and can be purchased at http://www.BuilderBooks.com or by calling 800-223-2665.
