Our Kitchen Renovation- from cottage hodgepodge to country elegant
comments (0) April 5th, 2009 in Project GalleryWe decided to redo the kitchen and used Signature Gallery in Royersford, PA for the kitchen design and cabinet construction. With their help we decided on tiger maple and black distressed cabinets. They also helped with suggestions on hardware, bubble glass, types of cabinets and just general ideas for efficiency and workability in this kitchen. The end result is - we absolutely love our new kitchen. We did gut the room and added foam wall insulation which helped a great deal in insulating the block walls. We rewired everything and added computerized lighting and a ceiling sound system. Very shortly we will add a media center in the right corner cabinet which will house a flat screen TV that will double as a computer screen when we need to look up recipes on the internet. All of our bench seating will hold our friends/family when we throw our first party!!
(We are finishing up the last stages of this project in the next few weeks. The floor paper will come off our new mahogany floors then.)

Want to see the winner entries?
Fine Homebuilding editors are a finicky bunch, and opinionated too. So the task of narrowing down the nearly 150 entries from our “Before and After: What’s Old is New Again,” kitchen and bath contest to just five winners wasn’t easy.
After the field was narrowed down to a group of fifteen, the editors convened with coffee and notebooks into a conference room equipped with a projector (for easier viewing). After going back and forth, and sometimes cringing, a few entries kept rising above the others, and viola, we found our winners.
Thanks to all who entered, and congratulations to the winning participants who will be mailed a new, DeWalt 18V 1/2" XRP LiIon Hammerdrill/Drill/Driver kit.
