This Koi Pond Deck cantilevers 3' out over water. A zig zag bridge takes you across the water and onto the deck. Decking is ipe, and the railing is old growth western red cedar and copper pipe.

JoeWood JoeWood writes: That railing is purely ornamental and to give a little definition and style to the space. The upper deck is less then 2'6" above grade so no railings are needed, thus no code applies.

pistolpcd pistolpcd writes: Thats a nice deck!..unfortunately you couldn't compete with it here in NJ because those deck rails are NOT to code....NO horizontal railings are allowed and largest opening can only be 3" max!

I'm just flaberghasted at all these unique decks and everyone of them is in violation of code here in NJ...guess they hate creativity here in "Gestapo" land
