In 1999 lightning topped a large Redwood near our 70yr old log house and had to be dropped. We had it milled on the property and years later when I retired I chose all clear heart wood and built these three decks. I still have wood left over!

Ballisters are green annodized aluminum that are almost transparent against the surrounding foliage. The sunken portion of the rear deck overlooks a stream that borders the property.

Not only did it crimp the variety of ways we came to use our deck, but it created an unnecessary tripping/stumble hazard, particularly at our awesome annual 4th of July parties.
