And the winner is. . .

In the end I picked two winners.
There were only ten comments with the correct answers so we chose at random for that winner.

However, since there was such a great response we chose another winner at random from all those who commented and that person will either get the Milwaukee or the Paslode.

If you won, you will be notified by email today, June 1st.

What were the answers anyway?

The first question was a trick.
Question: How many nailers are reviewed?
Answer: Fifteen (although Rick says there are sixteen)

The last answer was a gimmy
Question: Which nailer is Rick’s favorite?
Answer: Bostitch

The second question was a hard one and I’m not sure there is one right answer.
I had to have a consultation with our esteemed copy editor --who in my mind has the last word on everything-- about the definition of a feature.

For this case, a feature is a design detail that provides a benefit and can be separated into a class.  For example, a view port is one feature and a view strip is another feature. Using this criterion, I came up with the twenty-seven features listed below.

However since this is murky, any answer above 12 is a correct one.

Video One

Side loading  1
Top loading  2
Rear loading  3
View strip  4
View port  5
Good line of site 6
No-mar tip  7
Curved foot for no-mar tip  8
Spare tip (is this a feature?) (8a)

Video Two

Oil-less   9
Contact-trip switch  10
Contact-trip trigger 11
Rotating exhaust ports 12
Indexing rotating exhaust port 13
Rear-handle exhaust port 14
Adjustable belt hook 15
Indexing adjustable belt hook 16
Swivel air connector 17
Squeeze lever jam clearing 18
Switch in front jam clearing 19
Lock-out driver  20
Side depth adjustment 21
Protected depth adjustment 22

Video Three

Locking pusher 24
Small profile  25
21/2-in. nail magazine 26
Affordable 26
Skewed magazine 26
Air blow button 27

Original post

I am giving away a Milwaukee finish nailer.

More choices might be good for the consumer but it’s hard on the editor.

Rick Arnold recently reviewed 16-g. finish nailers for the magazine. Originally I thought I could do a short four to five minute video review of features and that would be it.  Not so.

We spread the nailers out on a table and realized there were too many brands with varying combinations of features to cover in a short video.  We ended up producing three videos and still it was a squeeze.

With so many nailers we figured we could give one away. Right?  Here’s the challenge.

Watch the three videos featured here and correctly answer these three questions:

How many nailers are reviewed?
How many features are covered?
Which is Rick’s favorite?

Post your answers in the comments below and next week I’ll draw a name from a hat of all those who got all three answers right.

Good luck!
