Makita Launches Redesigned Sliding Compound Miter Saw

Back around the time that I was working with Kit Camp on a review of 12-in. sliding compound miter saws some engineers and product managers from Makita gave me call. They wanted to pick my brain (and lots of other tool-pro brains) to see what I thought were good features in a miter saw. Like most tool nuts, I jumped at the open invitation to rant about miter saws.

Well, Makita recently sent me one of the 10-in sliders that was born from all of their research, the LS1016L. It's back in our shop right now. So far I've read the manual, played with the features, and made a few dozen test cuts.

I'm not ready to talk too much yet about what I think is working/not working...but I did want to kick off the weekend by sharing a video and some interactive product info until I can finish my testing and give you the official FHB review.

So, here's the teaser (enjoy your weekend).
