T-Track Hold Down Clamp
comments (2) July 29th, 2009 in Project GallerySubmitted by Dan Broadbelt:
I needed some clamps to hold down my aluminum guide rail that I use for cutting plywood down to size.
After I made these clamps, I realized that they could also be used in the T-track on my drill press table. Although the prototype clamps for the guide rail were a little small for this T-track; the solution was to make another version with a standard F-style clamp.
I started by cutting off the top of the clamp with a hacksaw. Then I marked and drilled two holes for the spring pins, tapped the pins into the holes and ground down the pins until the assembly slid freely in the T-track.
This hybrid clamp has the potential to be the solution to many unforeseen quandaries down the road when used with the widely available T-tracks.
