Big Beard Films has released a new documentary on the work of Samuel Mockbee’s Rural Studio. Mockbee won acclaim throughout his career by working with students at Auburn University’s School of Architecture to build homes for needy residents of rural Alabama.

But it wasn’t just about serving a community in need. Rural Studio offered architecture students a chance to get their hands dirty on a job site. For anyone who has ever been frustrated by architects whose experience was relegated to the drafting table, this is a must-see.
