Dewalt launches 1/2" corded hammer drills

In a tool market that tries to cut the cord on every power tool (I'm thinking of getting a lithium-ion powered pickup truck soon), Dewalt just announced two new 1/2-in. corded hammerdrills.

Personally, I still use a corded drill for mixing thinset, grout, joint compound, and paint and for hogging lots of big holes in rough framing lumber. They are, of course, also indispensible when the charger for my cordless drill taunts me with the annoying "too hot to charge" light. My go-to is an old Milwaukee, but the DWD520K and DWD525K both look pretty nice.

I'm especially interested in taking a closer look to the grip on teh DWD525K, which is set towards the middle of the tool rather than the typical pistol-grip rear position. I tend to think the mid-grip will be more comfortable if the drill is being used without the auxiliary side handle because then my second hand can be on the back of the drill to apply force when drilling holes.

Then again, it could end up being such a departure from the norm that it will just feel weird in use. I tend to think that having one hand on the mid-grip and the other on the aux handle will feel strange compared to the pistol grip I'm used to dealing with.

I suppose only a test-drive will answer these questions...
