100 sq ft Screened Porch with 12 ft high Vaulted Ceiling
Cedar wrapped beams and cedar shakes cover the interior walls. Custom made screens have wide framing with grip tabs to ease handling.
The north wall has built-in book cases that use limestone slabs as a bottom shelf that were saved from a demolished school. Oak banding and Douglas Fir window trim came from a demolished library. There are four sandblasted fixed windows that allow in plenty of soft light while at the same time keeping out the views of the neighbors property. A custom mixed solution has been hand applied to all cedar to protect it from aging and weathering.
Each cedar shake was hand trimmed and nailed by the home owner. The oak banding and door trim was saved from a demolished library. The 12 ft high pine ceiling reflects a warm glow in the evening from the up facing light fixture. There are five oak pegs to hang things on next to the switch plate.
Azek decking was used for the flooring and door step while the riser is Trex that was sanded to make it look like a piece of brown sandstone.

We wanted a unique screen porch that related to the Craftsmen era of when the home was originally built while also using some modern day materials that make for ease of use----such as the decking - flooring product. We also wanted to recycle and reuse various items we had gathered from locally historic demolished sites that we felt added to the character of our project.
