Laundry and bath, in one bright space
This light-filled master bathroom is the result of an attic renovation that dramatically reclaimed the dark spaces under the eaves. The outside wall height was raised and the roofline flattened to get the necessary space; skylights and a strip of windows lend a maximum of light without sacrificing privacy. A big curbless shower, sleek fixtures, radiant heat, and a combination linen/laundry closet make the bathroom a highly-functional and efficient bathroom. The owners and architect tried to maintain a high standard of sustainable building practices throughout the project, a course of action that's evident in the finish work. A clear-finished beadboard ceiling, Pacific Madrone trim, glass tile and reclaimed slate chalkboard floors all combine to create a warm and comfortable space.
