Re: Use the Right lumber and the Right fasteners and ignore misleading information (and people)
Does anyone know where to find the Copper Napthanate wood preservative used for cut ends of pressure treated lumber that was featured in the deck planning center video of a grade level deck? I called a few local lumber yards in Massachusetts and nobody has heard of it before.

Be careful about using any type of plastic netting for guarding in an outdoor environment. Sunlight can degrade several types of plastic over time, and the material could fail. Polypropylene should be avoided because it is easily degraded by UV light. Note that the webbing that holds a net together may be of a different type of plastic that the netting itself, so double check.

Has anyone used stained/colored concrete for a deck? I'm leaning toward it for my new "deck". It won't rot, burn, dent or splinter. It's not slippery when wet if given a brushed finish. It has a large thermal mass so it stays cooler under foot during the day as it warms up, then gives off heat in the evening.
