Re: Are Replacement Windows a Waste of Money?
I live in Windsor Canada and have removed & rebuilt many older home windows, we are allowed to replace the glass with double pane (gass filled) as long as the replace ment window is the same style ie: sash etc.to comply with historic values. The windows are usually rebuilt out of douglas fire and replaced to the same size as when we removed them. We insert a seal system in the sliding area and usually put a tongue and grove seal in the closing area to keep the wet out. using a high end primer before we paint insures a long lasting replacement. We also rebuild doors to historic designations.

I found the chimney inspection too easy! I would have have asumed that safety harneses would have been required. in Canada if you are over 8' off the ground you require a safety device.
