I did not know of the secondary benefit of the overflow. It is good to know.
Where is the like button?
I see the metal strapping on top of roof sheathing along the tops of the rafters? Is strapping tying together the rafters from 2 slopes or is it tying the rafters to the rigde? Is strapping for fighting uplift purposes? Rafter hangers weren't enough?
You probably were tired or in a hurry. Be careful and stay safe. I enjoy reading your updates.
I see that the upper part of the gable was not insulated with 2 in. Roxul batts. I understand it is becuase the cold attic space is behind it. What size of lumber did you use to fur out in the same plane with furring strips below?
How long do you have to wait to see if the tank maintains vacuum, an hour or 24 hours or else? In Russia (where I am from) the concrete septic tanks have to be watertight too, but not 100%, the certain amount of leaking is allowed - something like a liter per cube a day (24 hours). But I don't know how the amount of leaking is established - they probably measure the volume somehow before and after the fillup. I used the plastic septic tank from Finnish brand Uponor (Sako), I filled it up with water after installation, came a week later the the water level was the same - so it was watertight I figured.
What material was used to gasket the halves: the polyurethane foam/glue, rubber gasket or bytum sealant?
How the round holes in the sides of the upper halve were sealed/closed?
Wow, a good thing to turn the drill into a drywalling machine.
This is a good story. RIP Werner.
I was shingling my shed yesterday and I was cutting the shingles by hand using a hook blade in a 3 bucks utility knife. At first I was scratching a guiding line using another shingle (later a Swanson speed square) and a knife. Than I was holding the shingle with one hand and cutting it with another. It is good that I don't have to make and use any jigs. But it is pretty tiring after awhile to pull the blade through the shingle. And the hook blade gets dull pretty quickly so you have to replace it periodically or you'll rip the shingle. Now I am looking for another easier way to cut shingles.
Thanks for the 16 cc nail model, looks good.
When I wrote that walls overlap at the corners, I meant that all 4 walls are through walls, so they overlap, instead of one wall butting into the other wall. There should be 2 through walls and 2 butt walls.
