Would it be better for the bent aluminum flashing at the bottom to be behind the strapping and the seam taped to the polyiso to prevent it from holding water and causing it to run backwards to the house?

Negative, has to be the A-coil. This person should be bared from doing business. Even ran the condensate drain to the other refrigerant line.

Why use plumbing tape? Just take regular flat washers, put them in the same jig and ball-peen them into shape.

Although my 19 year old home is not "zero energy" it does pretty well. I use 3,000 kWh to heat and cool (we never open windows). At $.10/kWh, that's less than $1 per day. We have a .107 ACH and yes, I have an ERV.

I've done the same thing using a ratchet tie down out of my truck tool box.
