Re: Mahogany deck with cable railing
Nice deck, but I see lots of decks in this section with horizontal cables. In my area this wouldn't be allowed by code. All spindles have to be vertical with a maximum clear distance of 4". The clear distance is so a child can't slip through and the vertical requirement is so they can't scale the railing like a ladder. I think safety requirements can get carried away at times, but after hearing of people like Eric Clapton who lost a child from falling off a balcony I think this one makes sense.
