This article is from 2004. Edmund Scientific is nothing like the old ES. It does have a lot of optics, but the rest of the company is dedicated to marketing educational kits for schools. No more giant magnets. Anyway, a tiny magnet could do the job today.

Running the old tips is OK, but when they are totally obsolete, they are useless. Whoever is editing this feature should check with some of the old-timers.

And here I thought the idea that this kind of venting cooled roofs was based on building science. That means testing.

(Dr. Work, the shadow of the solar panels is preventing the sun's rays from hitting the shingles, so they would reduced the sun heat load by a lot. In cold climates, though, you would lose the heat gain on sunny days. Of course, this should be tested!)
