Rosario "Ross" Ungaro with a background of over 25 years in the industry is a qualified tradesman with knowledge of every application in the construction process. His hands on approach and critical set of values to construction and detailed finishing, as specified by the client and architects/designers involved, ensures a unique level of quality control for the clients through every level of the construction process for completion in a timely manner.

Some of our work was featured in the Canadian Contractor magazine which featured possibly the only wooden foundation built in Toronto.

We recently just completed the first thermally treated southern yellow pine deck in Toronto. The southern yellow pine was manufactured by EcoVantage and supplied to us by Deck Masters of Canada.

Our client gave us a sketch (photo 5) and asked us can you build it? This is what we came up with.

Re: Synthetic Decking: Best Buy or Absolute Nightmare?

This is the way I see it, more and more of our clients are asking for a maintenance free deck, and we all know there is no such thing. It is up to us to find the best possible products to offer. I no longer offer pressure treated decking due to unpredictable performance. Cedar I recommend very little, only because in the last couple of years most of our service calls have been delamination and staining issues. I like using Eipe, and Tiger wood, (once you get past the tag team bow wrench).

I'm really excited over a new wood product EcoVantage. EcoVantage is a thermally modified southern yellow pine. The thermal-modification makes the wood harder and able to resist moisture, mildew, rot and insects. The EcoPrem heat and steam process makes EcoVantage wood products safe and reliable. Many pressure-treated woods contain toxic chemicals that can shorten the life expectancy of your project. These chemicals also leach into the air and soil around the wood and can make the wood unsafe to handle without protection. All of EcoVantage's chemical-free wood products can be used around your plants and your children with clear conscious.
And for our ultra low maintenance decking I prefer Azek and Timbertech, and the reason being is that I don't get any call backs.

Re: HIDfast - Hidden Decking Fasteners > Fast!

Mike,I first came across the Hidfast at Deck Expo last year.
Glen Tebo caught my attention in the manner that he was installing decking at a very rapid pace, took in the demonstration, still not convinced and kept walking. As I walked away, out of the corner of my eye, I saw 3 or 4 fellows with some thermally modified pine decking in the middle of the aisle. They took the Hidfast tool from Glen and they had a section of deck approx. 6x8 completed in no more than 2 minutes. I have to be honest, that got my attention. Made my way back to the booth and started chatting with Glen about his product.

By the end of the show, I was taking one back with me to Toronto with the help of my friends from Deck Masters of Canada Building Supply.

The deck we were building was an 800 sq.ft project.
Our clients were gracious enough to be our guinea pigs, and as far as I know we were the first to use the Hidfast in Toronto Canada. I have to be honest it was a little nerve racking using a non proven system on such a large job. I am happy to say that the job was an enormous success. The tool itself was very easy to use and the appearance of the deck is quite exceptional, not to mention less wear and tear of the knees. You can view our project at www.deckbuilder.ca

Re: A Pergola for the Ages

Lawrence, of course you have proof, measurements, specification on the self-supporting arch and lamination, the fastening of the posts to the already built stone and concrete piers and wall and so on. If you had any involvement in this project you would be there with your hand out, for commission and design fees. You have to stop these unfounded accsations towards me and my company, as far as you calling me a thief, I'M not sure where you get off. I've been inviting you to come and pick up your material for a year. I also stated that if you did not come by get your material it would be shredded.

Im sorry that you started down this avenue, You have 7 days to remove all slanderous name calling and unfounded remarks. At that time I'll have no choice but to start legal procedures.

And @ Mr. Winterfraud, I don't know who are, but it gives me great pleasure to see that there are concerned others out there, for that I thank you
