Re: Understanding R-Value
martin, good to see someone explaining it as it should be.here in australia we have the different climate zones that we work on, and more and more builders are falling into the trap of using the bubble wrap/foil products as an insulation in walls ceilings and floors. this particular glorified sarking is only useful in areas where the sun is beating down all day, and it purely reflective insulation, which only has a theoretical R value.gradually the australian building code is edging such practises out because they are asking for a material r value, or 'added value' for any insulation. this is embarrassing for the guys who sell the bubblewrap stuff because the stand alone value is less than r 0.5 !!!the point you made as to airtightness is very valid, and not many people believe it, but it is half the battle in any system. thanks again for your very factual article.

Re: Spray-painting screwheads
we regularly have to paint large amounts of screws at one time and i use pegboard- predrilled masonite for shop wall displays.we only replace the piece every couple of years when the paint builds up too much!!!
