I wish an Agrihood had been available when I purchased my first and second home. As it is, I have to drive 10 to 30 miles to farmers markets which offer scant organic choices and are only available is summer months. I can see the governing of such communities becoming difficult, but it's a worthwhile paradigm shift in community living and I hope it works and becomes more the norm.
Mike Guertin is the consummate carpenter. Thanks for the invaluable tips.
Great vids. Mike Norton is a real pro and his framing tips are invaluable. It's instructional videos like these that make membership worth every penny.
We used ICF's on a Habitat for Humanity job years ago - the learning curve was steep but once we got the hang of it the job went along just fine. Nice system, which allows for adjustments along the way before the pour. Instead of a professional dip-style vibrating tool, we used an orbital sander w/o sanding disk of course to set the concrete. Worked great!
Beautiful doors; definitely worth the effort. Nice job! Man, I wish I had a dedicated shop instead of my two-car garage, which serves as temporary shop all spring and summer. Come winter in Michigan, tools recede to corners and cars replace wood shop. Can't wait for spring.
Installing housewrap to this job appears to be the most difficult stage. For me, it's what I dread the most of any job and would gladly sub the task out.
I love remodels; the job looks interesting and (fun?).
Thanks for the images.
I'm all for mandatory safety requirements such as the one proposed for table saws. The Tea Baggers will no doubt scream foul as they want no regulation, but consider how unsafe we'd be without someone looking out for our dumb asses. To wit:
seat belts, helmets, GFCI outlets, hurricane ties - you name it.
People are too stupid to govern themselves, we need signs warning us that coffee is too hot.
And without the fingers you'd loose in a table saw accident, you couldn't sue!
