I like the thought of having a hammer that doesn't cause joint problems but still is as efficient as the "older" models. I'm sure that swinging a hammer all day long would cause a lot of elbow problems. I work in an industry where I have to sit at a computer all day long, and having an ergonomically correct chair to sit in really helps my back.
